About the ISSE [formerly IRTS] 
In 1988 a UK group of experienced building preservation surveyors determined to establish and promote a professional ethos for the occupation and formed the Institue of Remedial Treatment Surveyors.

Accesibility
Membership is open to all those who have a commitment to high standards of surveying

Qualification
A system of membership categories exists to reflect the experience and formal qualifications i.e. CSRT or by practical assessment of individual members.

Regional Groups
Regional groups provide regular forums for the discussion of technical, legal and professional matters.

Journal
The IRTS publishes  Specialist Surveyor. The independently funded publication for the industry.

National Conferences
In 1995 and 1999 expanded horizons for the IRTS members and in presenting radical ideas raised the profile of the Institute.
